Hey Everyone,
I'd like to introduce you to Greg...our watchmaker. Although Greg has been with Peter & Co. Jewelers for 10 years I thought it might be nice to sit down and learn a little more about what he can do and the services he provides.
Check out our interview with Greg.
Watch Maintenance
Do all watches need maintenance?
Quartz, automatic and mechanical Watches all need routine maintenance. Mechanical and automatic watches have more moving parts and thus have more wear over time. Quartz watches periodically need to be taken apart and oiled as well.
What are your capabilities?
Greg can handle most basic watch battery replacements, overhaul on high end automatic or mechanical watch movements, case and bracelet cleaning and refinishing, crystal replacement, and water-resistance testing. His shop is well equipped with the tools necessary to get your timepiece running smoothly.
What types of services does a typical quartz (battery operated) watch need?
These watches may require cleaning and oiling of the movement but additionally, the case and bracelets need to be maintained as well, especially the gaskets and pins and crystals.
What brands do you work on?
Greg can work on almost all brands, from Timex and fashion watches to higher end timepieces like Rolex, Breitling, Tag Heuer, Omega, Tissot and many more.
What is your favoirte watch to work on?
Greg was trained by Rolex at the Lititz Watch Technicum so he is very familar with the Rolex timepieces and movements and enjoys working on them.
What's the coolest watch you have fixed?
He wants to make sure if you're stranded on a deserted island, that your watch can save you! His coolest "fix" is the Breitling Emergency Watch, with built in antenna that will send out SOS signals.
I hope that you liked learning a little bit more about Greg: The Watchmaker. If you have a time piece that has been neglected over the years, bring it by. Greg will take a look and provide a free estimate on the work that needs to be done.
Until Next Time!
